The name Mowbray is taken from the town of Melton Mowbray, in the heart of the Midlands of England. It is widely considered that Melton Mowbray is the home of Pork Pies, although neighbouring counties may dispute that. Carole Barker, the driving force behind Mowbray fine foods, originates from one of those neighbouring counties; Nottinghamshire and has lived in or near Melton Mowbray for some years. It has taken four years of development and research to adapt the family recipe to the resources available in New Zealand. The result being that Carole has now virtually perfected the crafting of a genuine English pork pie here in New Zealand.
